Friday Fill-Ins #74

May 30th, 2008 by monnibo

1. For me requirement is the opposite of creativity.
2. The Twilight Series was the last excellent book I read.
3. I like fill-ins because it gives me an easy post.
4. In nature I like looking at the mountains.
5. I have no opinion about who should win the US elections.*
6. The last time I laughed with all my belly was Friday afternoon when CW was tickling me.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing with CW, tomorrow my plans include RR’s Birthday BBQ and Sunday, I want to enjoy some more time with CW. We might go around the city!

* (ETA: Because I don’t know the candidates positions on certain issues that would affect me in Canada, and the world as a whole. I don’t assume to know anything about politics and cannot comment on who should win. Anyone would be better than Bush.)

Me, Myself, & I!

I didn’t realize how bad a pun this was until after I decided which photo I liked best.

Books vs. Movies

May 25th, 2008 by monnibo

This one sounds oddly familiar… but I just checked through all the Booking Through Thursdays I’ve participated in, and it’s not there, so carry on! (P.S. Yes, I’m late… sorry.)

Books and films both tell stories, but what we want from a book can be different from what we want from a movie. Is this true for you? If so, what’s the difference between a book and a movie?

There is very little difference, I want to be entertained! That’s the short and long of it. Getting into details, when reading a book, I want plot lines, character development, twists and a good conclusion. With a movie, I need it to be convincing. If the graphics or characters are too fake, it takes away from the story. The plot should still be engaging, but it’s always more simplified compared to books (or the book it’s based on).

Twilight Drive-In

May 24th, 2008 by monnibo

Last night CW, DL, and I went to the Triple Feature at the Twilight Drive-In in Aldergrove (aka Township of Langley). The Twilight Drive-In – The screen is 20 feet off the ground and 40 feet high by 94 feet wide. (That’s the equivalent to a 1224″ T.V.). There is no bad parking spot! We took DL’s truck and reversed into the stall and put blankets and pillows in the truck bed.

The first show was Iron Man, which was pretty good and I thought Robert Downing Jr. did really well. He had the perfect amount of weird cockiness for the lines and the roll.

The second show was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I liked it — not as much as the originals though — but it was pretty well done. The script’s dialogue was good, almost predictable, but very “Indy”. I wasn’t quite sure about the whole “Crystal Skull” concept, it was a little too space/alien. I was glad they brought back Merriam, she was one of my favourites.
