Favourite Author(s) Meme
June 4th, 2008 by monnibo
I found this while surfing random bookblogs, which I’ve been getting into lately. Unfortunately I can’t link to where I found it from (read: who I stole it from)… but if you wanna play along, let’s spread this one!
HOW TO PLAY: Respond with a single answer, multiples, or even a list. Where relevant, include a link to an author’s website, your review of one of their books, or a review that inspired you to try the author(s).
Who’s your all-time favorite author, and why?
I don’t have just one. I have different favourites for different genres, and new authors are being added to my list all the time. I really like J.D. Salinger and John Steinbeck because of their writing styles, but I’m also getting into Terry Goodkind and Philippa Gregory too, more for their subject matter.
Who was your first favorite author, and why? Do you still consider him or her among your favorites?
Jean Little and Dr. Seuss were my two favourite authors as a child. I still consider them among my favourites, just in a different category.
Who’s the most recent addition to your list of favorite authors, and why?
Recently, I’ve been drawn to and fallen in love with Stephenie Meyer’s writing style in the Twilight series (Twilight, New Moon, & Eclipse). I’d also like to read more from Markus Zukas, who wrote The Book Thief. I am also a growing fan of Alice Sebold (Lucky, Lovely Bones, & Almost Moon), because her novel subject matter isn’t conventional.
If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth?
Philippa Gregory is writing a lot of historical-based fiction right now, and I’m really enjoying it. I just got another one of her books, as I finished The Other Boleyn Girl and really enjoyed the novel.
TAG PEOPLE TO PLAY: Yea, I don’t really want to. Play along – leave a link! Although I am curious to know the favourite authors of my blogging friends, such as… Julia, Stephanie, Chelle, Ruth, Chan, and Michelle? Want to play? (ETA: no pressure!)

Evan & I went to go see Sex and the City the movie on Monday night, assuming that it wouldn’t be as busy as it was the opening weekend. Evan wanted to go to the new-ish theatre downtown but the 7:30 and 10:30 shows were sold out so we headed to Metrotown. We got tickets for the 10:00pm show (having missed the 7:00 show which wasn’t even sold out). We had some dinner and wandered around the mall waiting for our theatre to open. During the advertisements, Evan confirmed he was Samantha and we agreed that I was Charlotte. Who are you?
