It’s always been a trend to make movies and plays based on books and novels. Adapting written works for the screen is nothing new. However, there are some movies in pre-production and filming right now that I’m excited to see. THE HUNGER GAMES I’m a big fan of The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. Celebrating female characters on International Women’s Day

Today, March 8, 2011 is the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. I could easily spend hours listing female authors, friends and family, as well as artists and contributors who shaped the woman I’ve become. But instead, to honour the day, I’d like to highlight some of my favourite female protagonists in novels. Many of these books were also written by women, but I am focusing more on the characters that jump off the page. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins — book three of the Hunger Games trilogy

I finished the final book of the Hunger Games trilogy in three days, about the same length of time it took me to read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Read: Review for book one of the series, The Hunger Games Read: Review for book two of the series, Catching Fire I thought it was strong, powerful and a great end to the trilogy.
