On Sunday I got back from a week on the road up and down Vancouver Island with two authors shortlisted for The BC Book Prizes—Anne Fleming, author of a book of short stories entitled Gay Dwarves of America, and Alan Woo, children’s author of Maggie’s Chopsticks. Each year the BC Book Prizes sends finalist authors on tour visiting schools, libraries, and bookstores throughout the province. The tour is supported by sponsors and completely free for any locations we visit. In each community we aim to visit one high school, one elementary school, and hold a public evening event. Some of you may know that I have been away for the last month travelling. I visited Israel for two weeks, Jordan for a day, and Turkey for another two weeks. Here are some photos to tide ya’ll over until I finish sorting through them (4,000+) and uploading to Flickr.
I know I haven’t posted much on the blog lately, but I’ve been quite the traveller with limited internet access. I’ve seen lots of England, which was my original intention: Stratford-Upon-Avon, Bristol, Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Leeds, and tomorrow the destination is York. Here are a few photos as I don’t have time to relate all my travels yet. That will have to satisfy for now. My flight home is on Wednesday and I’m planning to spend as much time as possible with my boyfriend until then. Cheerio!
