BBAW Reading Meme

Pick ONE or answer them all in as few words as possible!  Be creative, have fun, stand out!  That’s all! Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack? Prefer not to. Love a cup of tea though. Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you? I write in my text books only. How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open? Bookmarks, bits of paper, bus transfers, anything but dog-ears! Fiction, Non-fiction, or both? I definitely read more fiction than non-fiction. Hard copy or audiobooks? Paper all the way. Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point? When I’m nearly falling asleep, I tell myself “at the end of the next chapter”, but if I need to put a book down in the middle of a chapter, I can. If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away? Sometimes, if I can’t infer meaning by the context. I keep a pocket-sized Oxford English Dictionary on my bedside table. What are you currently reading? The White Queen by Philippa Gregory What is the last book you bought? The White Queen by Philippa Gregory Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one [...]

BBAW Interview with Just Your Typical Book Blog

bbaw_interview_swap

One of the events during the inaugural BBAW last year was bloggers swapping interviews and posting them during Book Blogger Appreciation Week! I threw my name in the hat to participate this year and was paired up with Amber and Cheryl from Just Your Typical Book Blog. I emailed them some questions, and here is what Amber answered:

Happy BBAW!

BBAW_Celebrate_Books

Today is the first day of Book Blogger Appreciation Week! As part of the daily BBAW blogging topics, we’re supposed to write a post thanking and spotlighting your favorite blogs that didn’t make the shortlists. So um, since I’m busy… this is more of a placeholder. Go visit the BBAW blog, enjoy some links, and then come back here later today for my links too. Congrats to all those nominated, shortlisted, and the winners! Thanks to all people involved.

BBAW Voting Begins

Book Blogger Appreciation Week is in a couple short weeks and voting on the shortlist has already begun. I haven’t been nominated for anything (which isn’t a surprise since I don’t do strictly book blogging) but I designed the website and all the graphics. Also, some projects which I’ve been a part of have been nominated, such as the War Through the Generations Reading Challenge. Now, go get your vote on (until September 12, 2009 at 11:59 pm EST) and don’t forget to load up that Google Reader with awesome new blogs!

Book Blogger Appreciation Week & BBAW Meme

I probably haven’t mentioned Book Blogger Appreciation Week (BBAW) since last year, but I’ve had quite a bit of involvement this year. I’ve gone outside of my comfort zone and tried a bunch of new coding stuff with ExpressionEngine… and I am proud to unveil the new Book Blogger Appreciation Week website! I would also like to let you know that I illustrated all the graphics, built the website, customized the feeds, generated the auto-twittering from the blog, etc. As you can probably tell, I am quite proud of the on-going support I’m providing Amy with, and hopefully the BBAW blog of her dreams! To get the fun rolling while Nominations are going on, Amy created a BBAW Meme: If you were a part of BBAW last year, please answer these simple questions on your blog and drop your link into Mister Linky so that others can learn all about BBAW!  Feel free to tag other bloggers to play along! 1)  What was the highlight (something that happened, a post, an activity, etc.) of BBAW for you last year? I volunteered to make the award badges, which you will find littered around book blogs all over the blogosphere. Also, post-BBAW, Trish asked me to make a “Queen of Book Blogging” graphic for Amy, the amazing organizer of BBAW. 2)  What is one new blog you discovered during BBAW last year? Ironically, I discovered My Friend Amy and Savvy Verse & Wit (Serena), both of whom I’ve developed friendships and blogging/graphic [...]
