I don’t recall when I first heard about Got Craft?, but I was so busy during November that I didn’t get a chance to check out their holiday market. So when the date for their Spring show was set (today, Sunday, May 2, 2010) I marked it in my iCal and committed myself to going.
When our group of local knitters started talking about going early for swag bags (first 30 people in line get free swag bags)… I knew I wasn’t that kinda crazy. 8:00 am on a Sunday morning does not exist in my mind, thankyouverymuch. I’m just waiting for yarnpiggy and MrsQuimby to blog about their lovely swag. Unfortunately some of the others in the crazyearly camp didn’t make it quite early enough.
By mid-afternoon I wasn’t feeling up for much, but dragged myself out of the house and over to the Royal Canadian Legion on Commerical Drive. Other events conspired to make my mood worse and I only stayed long enough to check everything out. But man, was there a lot to check out!
GotCraft? had an inspiring and impressive array of items for sale. So many bits and bobs and knicks and knacks in every corner and crevice. A lot of the crafters used found or repurposed materials, and many use vintage fabrics and finds. From jewellery and accessories to eco-friendly clothes and funky dolls, the vendors at Got Craft? are sure to have something you love.

I also made sure to stop by the DIY tables hosted by Spool of Thread, a new store (aka “sewing lounge”) opening in my neighbourhood. I am really excited to see what classes they have up for offer as I really want to improve my pattern-deciphering skills.
My only disappointment is that Got Craft? is a one-day affair. While I’m sure it’s quite a taxing day on the organizers and crafters, it doesn’t seem like enough time. I guess we just start anticipating the Holiday Market even more!
