This is my favorite Austen novel and one of my all-time favorite books. I hope to read the rest of Austen's work this year.

This is my favorite of her novels, but I plan to read Persuasion this year since I've heard others prefer that novel to this one.

Great review. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I think this should be everyone's first Austen book. I actually listened to it on audio, which was also difficult at first. But soon you get used to the prose, and you are immersed. My iPod flaked out on me about 30 minutes before the end and I about had a cat! I actually listened to it from my iTunes library on my computer! If you haven't seen the A&E version (with Colin Firth), you must do so right now! It is amazing.

I went through an Austen period in my teens where I read her complete works in a non stop chain. The collection I had put them in an order which I'm sure makes sense but that I've never looked into. The first in the collection was P&P and I was hooked.

This is one of the few Austen's I've read more than once (the other being EMMA) but it's my favourite of the bunch and I completely agree. Even when I re-read it now the first portion of the book is a bit of a slog. Hope you don't mind it too much because I find all of her work to be a bit difficult in the first part. Once all of the characters, ranks and family connections are all dealt with and the story picks up, it really picks up!

Happy to read that you enjoyed it!

This is my favorite Austen. I'm glad you got "around to it". :-) Will you be trying more of Miss Austen's stories soon?
