There are books and websites if you want to get all technical, however it is one of the oldest things in the book...Just DO it! (oh, and sometimes I mix it up with the pitch fork, but not much). One tip...I have a little counter top bin that I keep in the kitchen so I don't have to run outside all the time. It has a lid and a filter (which says it needs to be changed every 3 months, but I only do...um...never so far) so it doesn't smell. Happy Composting!
