Investigating Interest

January 18th, 2009 by monnibo | Crafts, Personal

As you may know, I like to design and make earrings. I was trolling along Etsy and thought, I wonder if anyone would buy my earrings? So I’m putting the question to you, dear bloggers… do you think you would be interested in buying earrings like this. And if so, what would you be willing to pay? They are all sterling silver and Swarovski crystals or semi-precious stones.

Ooh…I like those pinkish looking ones (second row, on the right). As for how much, that depends on how much you invested in the materials, time, etc.. :)

The earrings on the bottom right look very special – they all look lovely! I think you should try it, and set your pricing in line with other Etsy folk.

I don’t wear earings, so I’m not sure of prices, but they look wonderful!

Yes, silly! People would love your earrings. Cost of material plus something for your time is the minimum price. How much time did they take? How much is your time worth? Only YOU can answer those questions.

Wow, Monica! I’m not a jewelry kind of chick, but those are truly beautiful! I’ll bet you could find a market for them.

They are all lovely!! The green ones are my favorites though. :) Pricing? Not sure, depends on how much you spent on the findings. Check out what others are selling for on etsy. Although I’d probably say less than $25 would probably sell better than pricier items with the economy the way it is….

Of course people will buy them. They’re lovely, but I know nothing about pricing…

I like the gold ones on the bottom left… shocking huh, you thought I’d go for the PINK.

My rule of thumb for pricing on ETSY is cost of materials and double it to cover labor… ie: $5.00 materials sell item for $10.00

Of course sometimes this doesn’t work but it’s a good start anyway.
