So I’ve been slacking on the Canadian Book Challenge, mainly because I got distracted. I had set up a list when I decided to participate in the challenge… and since have been enticed by a number of great books. So I spoke to John of The Book Mine Set, who organized the Canadian Book Challenge and he told me to go ahead and change my list! In fact, a number of people don’t even set up a list (according to John) I know for a number of challenges changing your list is a big no-no… so I’m really glad that I might actually finish this challenge. I’ve read a lot of Canadian authors, so here goes:
From the original list, I read:
1. Porcupine by Meg Tilly [finished July 4, 2008]
2. The Alchemist’s Dream by John Wilson [finished July 6, 2008]
3. Conceit by Mary Novik [finished July 15, 2008]
4. Forage by Rita Wong [finished July 22, 2008]
5. A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah [finished August 17, 2008]
Since then, other Canadian authors I’ve read have been:
6. For Now by Gayle Friesan [finished September 5, 2008]
7. First Time by Meg Tilly [finished September 19, 2008]
8. Getting the Girl by Susan Juby [finished September 26, 2008]
9. The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson [finished October 6, 2008]
10. The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway [finished November 10, 2008]
11. The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs [finished November 28, 2008]
12. The Flying Troutmans by Miriam Toews [finished December 15, 2008]
According to John’s rankings… I am officially a Newfoundlander and Labradorian (12 Books)

Give us poor southerly neighbors some idea of what those rankings mean…please!

I don’t join any challenges anymore that don’t allow you to change your list. I realised I’m just not any good at sticking to a set list. I often don’t even make a full list but rather a list of possibilities and even then I often choose other books too. Anyway, so congrats, you’re almost done!
