1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper with ribbons and bows! Unless it’s a really awkward shape like… a bottle of wine!
  2. Real tree or Artificial? I love the smell of a real tree, but it’s a lot of hassle, and I feel bad that they cut down so many… and they cost a lot too. I’m leaning towards artificial choices (I don’t have my own tree) but I love fibreoptics… and those can go on artificial trees…
  3. When do you put up the tree? My parents, sister, and I used to get the tree whenever it was convenient to all go down and argue about which one to buy. We’d then decorate it also, whenever we found the time. I think the first couple weeks in December is a good time to start putting up decorations.

  4. When do you take the tree down? HA! Whenever it started dying in the living room. I’d say the first or second week in January would be a good time… but that’s being optimistic.
  5. Do you like eggnog? Yes, it’s like nutmeggy, cinnimonny milk!
  6. Favorite gift received as a child? NO idea. Um but there was one Christmas where mom and dad took us to a parkade on Christmas morning… to let us ride new bikes!
  7. Hardest person to buy for? It’s actually so difficult choosing WHO to buy for… do I really need to get a gift for all of my friends…? Probably not. Do I feel like I should? Yea…
  8. Easiest person to buy for? Probably my BF, just because I know him pretty well. But sometimes I worry that it isn’t quite the right gift.
  9. Do you have a nativity scene? No, but my BF’s grandma knits them, and I think I might dedicate some of my time this year to knitting a nativity scene with/near her.
  10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail… but only a few. I never get very many in return, so I’m a little bummed when I spend all that time and energy (and money) on mailing cards.
  11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? A can of SPAM in my stocking… thanks Dad.
  12. Favorite Christmas Movie? The Nightmare Before Christmas1
  13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? First couple weeks of December. Although I do start thinking about it in November, and if I see something that is perfect, I will get it. I use the “after Halloween” marker.
  14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Probably. Something I would never use, or just wasn’t my taste… if I could think of a better recipient for it, I’d probably re-gift.
  15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Gingerbread! (Not the hard stuff though). Anyone have a good recipe for soft gingerbread?
  16. Lights on the tree? Most definitely! I’m not a fan of the newer LED lights because they seem so dim… but I guess they’re better for the environment.
  17. Favorite Christmas song? To sing: Good King Wenceslas. To listen to over and over: Blue Christmas.
  18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Well, do you consider going to England (from Canada) to spend Christmas with my BF’s family to be travelling? AHHA :) That would be a yes.
  19. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? Most definitely…. but only in a sing-song voice (I do the same for my alphabet)…
  20. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Morning. We used to open one present on Christmas eve (was usually the regular calendar that dad got everyone). When my sister and I were little and did stockings, she would give me a time limit like “Don’t wake me before 7am” and we’d do our stockings together. Then my parents were “Don’t wake us before 9am” … it got later and later as we got older.
  21. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Definitely the commercialism and that nagging feeling that we’re supposed to buy gifts for everyone even remotely in our lives.
  22. Favorite ornament theme or color? I love blue and silver. Just LOVE it.
  23. What do you want for Christmas this year? Peace of mind, quiet, space. LOL
  24. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star shining bright!
  25. Favorite Christmas dinner? PIE! I’m a vegetarian… so the dinner isn’t much of a big deal anymore.
