2008 marks BC’s 150th Anniversary. Although we are Canada’s youngest (and Westernmost) province we have much to show for our young age. (In contract, Quebec is celebrating it’s 400th birthday this year.)
BC Day is celebrated on the First Monday in August, and as such, is a civic holiday. In fact, the Civic Holiday it is celebrated in a number of the provinces and territories (not all) under a variety of names. Under the British Columbia Day Act, the First Monday of August is a statutory holiday (paid day off work).
