My LOLcatz

I’ve been playing with the I Can Has Cheezburger LOLbuilder… It’s funny cause it’s true… Chinchilla’s lifespan is 25 – 30 years.

Airport… T -3 hours

cimg0640

This is CW from last summer in his “Indy” hat with Elvis the hound dog. This has to be one of my favourite casual pictures of just CW. He looks totally at ease, no fake smile, no posing for the camera, etc. P.S. In case you didn’t understand the title, I pick CW up at the airport at 4pm.

Chico, my man!

You probably haven’t seen Chico the Chinchilla as often as Henry the cat, but that’s because chinchilla’s are quick and don’t photograph as well. But it’s great to have a video of the little guy! This is him taking a dust bath. Chinchilla’s have such fine and delicate fur that they should never get wet. They have to roll around in special dust to clean their fur, and it really makes him shine! I’ve had Chico since 2000 (I believe), so he’s about 8 years old, and he’s got another 20 – 25 to go! Chinchilla’s average lifespan is 25 – 30 years. They’re durable, cute little animals. While I was in England, my best friend Evan looked after him. Him, his mom, and his younger sister all spoiled Chico to no end – he was even allowed to “run wild” in Evan’s bedroom. I can’t let Chico do that because there are so many tasty wires to chew on. However, I let him romp around the bathtub, and managed to snap a few photos!

Lucky by Alice Sebold (book review)

lucky

“In the tunnel where I was raped, a tunnel which was once an underground entry to an amphitheter, a place where actors burst forth from underneath the seats of a crowd, a girl had been murdered and dismembered. I was told this story by the police. In comparison, they said, I was lucky.” I aquired this book at the recent Bookcrossing meetup that I went to. This is Alice Sebold’s personal story of how she was raped and managed to survive through the aftermath of the ordeal. I love Alice Sebold’s frank, honest writing style and I truly enjoy the way she tells a story. I would definitely recommend Sebold’s books to anyone who can handle the subject matter; I’ve read Lovely Bones and Almost Moon, and enjoyed the style of writing as well as the first person point of view. When Alice Sebold hit it big with Lovely Bones, I knew that she’d been raped herself, but I didn’t know all the rest of her story. She lets it all hang out in here – family, friends, coping, police, drugs, sex, etc. – and I am so impressed with her, her story, and her style. Definitely recommend it if you can handle the subject matter and frank language (she calls things what they are).

Pathetic Postings

newcamera

Sorry for those last two posts! Those were totally prompt-posts and I’m ashamed (sort of). So there’s a big story behind my new digital camera. It’s the exact same as my old one! YAY! The problem with my camera was the screen had some dead pixels that were slowly getting worse. It was no fault of mine, Canon has been known to have screen issues. But look at my camera… if the screen breaks completely, where is the viewfinder? Exactly! This model has a giant screen because it doesn’t have a viewfinder. I wanted to have the camera replaced a.s.a.p. because I’m screwed if it breaks completely! On Thursday I headed out to camp to help out in the kitchen with a school group that was in for the day. They had three trail rides and then came in super hungry where Susan and I fed them chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. I ate so many grilled cheese, they are addictive at camp! Well I was taking some photos – just for fun – because why have a camera, facebook, and a blog if you aren’t going to take photos? But during lunch, having my camera in my pocket was awkward so I put it by the tea kettle (it’s out of sight from the campers but still inside the kitchen). Later that evening, mom tells me that dad is going down to Seattle (where he buys all our electronics wholesale), and suggests that I give him my [...]
