Caffeine Talk

Michelle and Chan have been talking about coffee on their blogs, and it has got me thinking… I want my Starbucks Caramel Macchiato!! But I gave up coffee for Lent. First time doing the Lent thing, my boyfriend gives up chocolate every year.

I started drinking tea when I was 6, more milk than tea really. I started drinking coffee when I was 12, more sugar and half-and-half than coffee. I still like milky tea and creamy coffee, but my sugar is curbed. My dad grew up with a British mom so he started us on tea young (Orange Pekoe)… then the coffee smells just got to me. During high school I mixed the two – tea in the morning and coffee after school with friends. I fell in love with Starbucks (the convenience and the consistency of taste more than the corporate company). I do like Blenz’s hot chocolates better than Starbucks, and Tim Horton’s Iced Caps are great. With the convenience came customization – mochas, fraps, macchiatos, flavoured lattes… mmm!

Then I started to notice my stomach always hurt when I drank coffee *cries*… and now I can’t have it daily. *cries some more* Now at Starbucks if I can tell my stomach won’t be able to handle a coffee, I have a Chai Tea Latte, no water. If I’m thirsty, my regular black tea with milk and sugar doesn’t help, so I usually have a glass of juice and water while the kettle boils. I drink 3 – 5 cups of tea a day and I love dipping cookies in my tea!

Nummy nummy tea. I drank massive coffee in the college years, but eventually realized that though I loved coffee, it did not love me back. Tummy issues as well. I started drinking tea instead and discovered a whole new world. I love it best with milk and sugar :)

You must be able to get good tea everywhere in London. Lucky you! I drink PG Tips at work most of the time.

LOL… I’m with Cass. What a way to jump into Lent with both feet! ;) I’m so glad I changed my mind and blogged rather than just sending Michelle an email. I’m loving reading about everyone else’s habits!

Good luck… We’re about a 1/4 of the way through lent, aren’t we? (No calendar in my living room…)
