My sister gets home to Canada from Germany today. When she heard that I was leaving home before she returned, she was upset, but then thought we could meet up while we were both in Europe. Due to my bank/settling-in issues that wasn’t able to happen – and she had to get some of her final destinations in before going home. Hope she has a safe flight, she’s been keeping a TravelBlog of her journeys, and I’ve linked to it in the sidebar.

Speaking of my bank issues, to get an account I need to prove where I live with either a bank statement or a household bill. I finally go so frustrated and asked, “How am I supposed to give you a bank statement when I can’t open up an account?” and one of the ladies finally answered, “Call your bank in Canada and get them to send you your statement to your friend’s address here.” (If anyone asks you, I’m visiting/travelling/on-holiday.)

The Hot Water Bottle Cosy is coming along. I’m back to “fresh” yarn… so I’m past the worst-frogged attempt which was about 68 sts in 30 rows. Really the reason I frogged so many times is I kept changing what I wanted the pattern to be. I’m making it up, and writing it down, converting a cable pattern for knitting in the round (yes I wrote a chart), and generally just being fickle. I changed the design about 4 times, then once I miscounted stitches, then another time I accidentally twisted the foundation row when I joined it in the round… and a couple other minor mistakes that called for frogging.

Had a nice relaxing weekend. I bought some Christmas cards and gifts to send home. This weekend should be less sleepy and more interesting as CW’s friend Nay (who came to Canada in the summer) is coming down to London. Plans include the London Zoo, loop yarn store (for me), and possibly the London Eye. More to come and of course, as always, photos!
