Yesterday CW and I headed into London. We needed to get me a Rail Card (woo discounts on train tickets) and I wanted to go to a Knitting Night at I Knit London.

This is a park about 10 minutes walk from our house.

Rosebush (just because) & a magpie

This is Darkes Lane, aka Downtown Potters Bar. If you look hard you can see a blue bridge-kinda-thing in the distance… that’s the train tracks.

Here is the Train Station… only about 20 – 30 minutes into Central London – King’s Cross.

My young-persons Rail Card. Now I can travel to Manchester from London on the Virgin Train for £40 instead of £60. I’ll also get discounts just going into Central London from Potters Bar. Now I need to get an Oyster Card so I can get discounts on the tube too.
“Please step away from Platform 2. The approaching train is not scheduled to stop at this station.”
We went to Liberty’s Department Store. It was very posh, but I was headed for the Haberdashery Department. Hmmm yarn. I’ll definitely be coming back to Liberty’s on Regent Street when I have a project in mind. Actually, CW’s grandad JW wants me to knit him a sweater! He says they are warmer than the sweaters you buy nowadays. It’s flattering but worrisome because I’ve never done a sweater. CW said he won’t care what it looks like, but of course I’d want it to look nice. I won’t be able to make it for Christmas, but I’ll start afterwards.

Here’s the cotton selection! Yum. It was mostly Rowan, but there was that crazy Regia yarn that has insane colour combinations. Sock knitters tend to like them because they make stripes.

Saw this in Urban Outfitters — Just for you RR!

I did make it to I Knit London, but I didn’t stay for the knit night because everyone was in their little groups, and it is difficult for me to be chatty when I don’t know anyone. I bought a Jean Greenhowe book that I’d been eyeing, and I found an amazing alpaca called Artegano Hummingbird (I think).

Good fun!! You’re settling right in, eh?
I don’t blame on you skipping knit night. I don’t like being the lone new girl much either.
