Oooh New Electronics!

November 9th, 2007 by monnibo

Sit back and relax for another long-winded story like the Passport application… but this one has a happier ending! Company in Question: FutureShop. Electronic device: Apple iPod 60GB Colour Photo with 2 year warranty.

Back in May, my iPod broke with the sad iPod icon so I brought it to FutureShop to envoke my warrenty (expires August 2007). They didn’t get the iPod back to me until June. Approximately two weeks later in early July, it broke again (frozen) so I brought it back. When they returned it in late July, it had deep scratches all over it. I phoned, complained, and eventually got a $50 gift certificate in apology for the damages. Hehe. Mid-August, it displayed the sad iPod icon again (fix #3)… so I brought it in yet again.

When they got it back to me in September, they said that if it broke a 4th time, their policy was to replace the unit with a new iPod. By now, my warranty has expired but the 30 Day Repair Warranty was in effect. So when my iPod froze again in early October, you can imagine how pissed I was (yet excited!). But unfortunately, it doesn’t end there. I picked up my iPod on September 10th, and it was now October 15th… that’s 35 days. Luckily I had a really nice guy that told me to fax him my pick-up/drop-off receipts and he’d get it sorted out. He said it should take about 2 weeks because all they had to do was send the iPod out for “replacement approval”.

Late October, I’ve heard nothing so I call and get the run-around on the telephone. On November 5th I decide to go in because they can’t hang up on me or disconnect me when I’m standing right there! The woman that I talked to didn’t seem to understand that this was the 4th time replacement approval… and she told me it takes 4-6 weeks. I told them I was leaving on Saturday and I wanted my iPod replaced. She said that it was listed as “In Transit” and to call again tomorrow. On Tuesday I called and spoke to a guy who was really helpful and said to come in and he would do the necessary work to replace my iPod.

I had to sign a receipt saying I “received” my iPod back (which was a lie because it was In Transit)… but then I signed a receipt and received a NEW 80GB white Video iPod Classic! They wanted me to buy another warranty for $99.99 but I said I was leaving the country so it wouldn’t do me much good. I ended up just buying a gorgeous red magnetic flip case for $19.99!

My gorgeous new case!

Oooh Shiny!

Spiffy 3D display!

Yes the title was plural for a reason: My dad bought me an early Christmas present – a digital camera!! I love Canon and really wanted a digital elph. He bought me the Canon Powershot SD870 IS Digital Elph. Ooooh!

Posh! I need a new ipod…………mine keeps skipping tracks. I got it three years ago for the New York Marathon and have used it constantly since so I guess you could say I have had my money’s worth out of it. But it is pink and it has ‘Charlie Chuckles likes to rock’ lasered on to it so I don’t want to let it go!!
